·          The population is 5,534,378 with approximately 60% twenty-one and younger and more than 70% living in poverty.

·          In overcrowded, poorly funded schools, children receive less classroom hours than those in other South American countries.

According to an International rating scale, several years ago Paraguay was second in the world in political corruption.  Change is on the horizon with Paraguay’s new president.  His fight against corruption is already showing positive results.
