Good Morning! This is going to be short as some of the ladies and I are going to hear Ann Graham this morning and then a group from the school is going on a short get-a-away until Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning. After the pace of these past few weeks, I just wanted to stay home and rest but they said I would probably just work and so they would not take "no" for an answer...so my bags are packed.
I got a message from Mable; she made it back to US safely. This past week the parents, staff, and students wanted to do something special for her and so we gave her a "thank you going away" party. We had fun and I think Mable is going to need six months to recuperate as she worked so hard while she was here.
All week the Mobile Medical Clinic was in town so Monday morning I translated for a visiting doctor, Edna. It was great seeing the clinic staff back in action. The remainder of the week besides doing my regular work at the school; I helped Mark screen all the children and staff at the school for visual problems. We identified some 30 children with vision problems with about half of them need glasses. What a blessing to have Mark help our children.
Every evening this past week we have had services or special programs at the school as part of the clinic outreach. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights we showed videos. Thanks to my Mom's recent gift of the children's DVD "The Passion" which we discovered had English and Spanish sound tracks and subtitles, we began each night with a 30-minute video for children then the other videos were for the entire family. The last two nights we showed "Left Behind". We did not have the Spanish version of the second movie but we used the Portuguese sound track (it is similar to Spanish) and the Spanish subtitles...I was able to follow almost everything and am surprised how much I can now understand. Is there a Left Behind Three? In the past we had to buy special Spanish videos but now that DVD's give you language options, many videos available in the US have the other language tracks.
Last evening we had our school's Easter program. The youth in our church and many of the staff participated in the praise and worship; a drama; followed by a short presentation of how Christ suffered for us and an alter call. We had many (probably around 40 people) come forward for prayer and many gave their lives to the Lord. It was a beautiful evening and our new playground arrangement with a stage in the corner is a wonderful place to have performances.
Have a blessed Easter.
Love,
Sue
