Hola Amigo! Hello Friend! Today is “Dia de Amistad” or Friendship Day so I want to wish you well and extend special blessings to you today. Yesterday and today has been filled with greeting friends and exchanging small tokens of appreciation. In the school, Janet, a short-term missionary visiting for two weeks and I hosted a luncheon for all the staff. We planned to have grilled chicken and I teased her that we would have to go out and catch and butcher them. As we travel the streets near the school we often have to be careful not to run over the roaming chickens.

The children returned this week from winter vacation and let me tell you for Paraguayan standards we had a very cold winter break. I have several relatives living in Alaska and they probably will be rolling on the floor when I tell you it was in the low thirtys (F), but when the buildings aren’t warm…I “ain’t” warm. Thank you Lord for not sending me to the North or South Poles or to some mountainous tundra region. However today, the temperature rose to around the high 80’s - low 90s.

Janet stayed with us almost two weeks and this past week we focused our attention on organizing the children’s art work or notes to send to their sponsors. This has been a real challenge because we have gotten hundreds of notes and such. With the vacation, many families forgot and when some remembered, it was in the final hours. Fifteen minutes after I was to leave to take Janet to meet her team, we were throwing letters into the case to ship to poor Mable. Please keep her in your prayers. She is facing upcoming surgery on her hips.

Also, we went shopping to buy toys for the “Dia de Los Ninos”, which we will be celebrating at the school on August 16th. We used the monies donated by many sponsors and a short-term team to buy the gifts which will be combined with the gifts Megan Grimaldi collected. Thanks to Megan and the Wheatland Salem team (near Chicago) the children will receive some very special gift packs this year from their sponsors. We just need to get them all packaged and labeled with the children’s and the sponsors’ names.

My computer continues to not function correctly as I can not access my email addresses without a struggle. Hopefully this problem can be resolved in a few weeks when I get my new software or I will have to develop a new data base file. Please pray that this situation can be resolved.

The news in Paraguay has been filled the last few weeks with several themes that I would ask you to pray about:

Please join me in wishing birthday greetings to Pattie, Zulma, Linda and early next week to Felicia and to my niece Katelyn. May God watch over you and your family.

Love,
Sue
