Well, last week’s letter was not sent due to time constraints and computer problems so I am going to try again this week. Last Saturday I went with Felicia and another teacher to check out another campground for our 3rd and 4th grade camp scheduled for the first of November. Please pray for this special time with the children.
In the afternoon, our Women’s group joined many of the women from around Asuncion to participate in a special afternoon with Women from Pender Church near Washington DC. It was nice for me to be able to visit a few minutes with some special friends.
Our church has been talking for some time about starting a class on Inner Healing and with the person we are currently ministering to many of us felt after our Friday night service in her mother-in laws home that she still was possessed with at least one demon. Saturday after consulting an expert in the US, we decided to pray for her and minister as directed. She was excited about another service but her baby was sick. Ivana and I took her, her mother and the baby to an area hospital. Before the child was to see the doctor, we prayed for him and right then the evil spirit decided to manifest himself in the waiting room. Ivana and I immediately started praying as we tried to restrain her and keep her from injuring her baby. Through prayer and quoting scriptures we were able to help her gain control…at one point while we were reading the Bible together, she whispered to me, “He’s on the page and he won’t let me read”. We prayed and her vision cleared so she was able to keep reading.
Later that evening, we meet with several other couples and had a praise and communion service at her home. Again, the demon manifested himself in her. She became violent and tried to attack us but with prayer and speaking calmly to her, she was able gain control. We believe the demon is still there and we are continuing our prayers and fasting for her. Please continue to pray for her and her husband. Being new Christians they are like newborn calves trying to earn to walk…but I can see how Satan is trying his “darnest” to stop them. People they owed money for years are appearing now demanding total payments; the demon spirit in her has divination powers and is doing everything he can to block her way. Please pray that they can submit to God in all things and resist the devil so he will flee.
For some this may sound like science fiction but Satan and his demons (fallen angels) are real and they are trying to destroy so many lives. Please join us in prayer as we work through God’s power and love to free this young mom of her daily torment.
This week I did have a chance to get away from Sunday through Wednesday for a retreat with Latin America Mission. I was so exhausted by the time I got there…praise God he knows our limits and helps us find times of rest. Our topic for the retreat was s timely…”The Fellowship of His Suffering”. Please pray for the LAM staff who are trying to return to Miami…they flights have been delayed due to the hurricane. Also, please pray for the people who have been impacted by the hurricane’s destruction.
Just a quick announcement, Latin America Mission has developed a short seven minute TV spot for recruiting missionaries. It will appear this Monday at 5:30 AM (EST) on the ABC Family channel. I understand through the grapevine, I have been included in the video.
Also, I want to share a special praise report. For almost five years we have been praying for our area director with the ministerial of education. She has made our lives so difficult at times…yesterday I received a phone call that our area was divided and now we have a new director. She is Carina (the director of M’BA), the school where we have been warmly received several times to do evangelistic programs. Praise God for giving us a new director.
As I close I have a few prayer requests: pray for our church as we learn more about spiritual warfare and inner healing. Pray for our Pastors and their families as they are seeing more and more of this in their churches and pray that this week the items we prepared for shipment will finally be loaded on a boat headed for Paraguay. Please pray for Pastor Don and his wife, Norma, as she recovers and for Mable. May the Lord watch over and protect you and your loved ones under the shallow of His wings.
Love,
Sue
