Good Evening! Sorry my letters are getting so inconsistent but I am having trouble finding time to write with all that is happening. We finished visiting the homes in the barrio and had a meeting for all those interested in entering their children in jardin (the four year class which will begin in February.) Close to a hundred children were represented for the 54 slots available. This week and part of next week the parents are coming with their completed application forms and we are having personal interviews with all of them. Our desire is to find children within the barrio who need a chance to get a quality education and whose parents will want to be part of the educational process. We are praying God will give us wisdom and discernment as we narrow the applicants down to 54 children.

In my last letter, I shared many prayer requests. God has been faithful. One area in particular is in the lives of the people in our church. I mentioned we started an Intercessory Prayer and Healing Class. We were not able to meet last week and on Sunday encountered a spiritual battle during our prayer and fasting service. What was so interesting and eye-opening for members of my class was how the Holy Spirit moved to reveal the truth to so many in many different ways. God communicated through His scripture, his voice, dreams, thoughts, visions, through others and so forth to any different people. They received warnings and answers for how to deal with the situations. The lesson we had to postpone until this week was how God equips us with “The Word of Knowledge” to do His work. Praise God for the practical applications He provided for us.

Last Saturday night was the wedding for a young couple in the church. She is a teacher’s assistant in the school and so both the staff and the church members pitched in and gave them an awesome wedding. They were expecting a few decorations and a light snack and were quite surprised the school was decorated and we had a sit down dinner with grilled beef (asado).

Yesterday, we took the second graders to a farm that provides educational tours for the children. The children had the opportunity to study worms, plant trees, learn interesting facts about farm animals, milk a cow, ride a horse, play with sheep, goats, etc. In the afternoon the children were able to run and play before participating in some group games. I was very impressed with how organized the educational program was for the children. For me it brought back many memories of when our family used to give tours of how we made maple syrup and then the children were able to visit and play with the animals. Even today my brother still continues to let children visit the animals.

I want to thank God for the recovery Mable is making from her surgery. I would like to ask for prayers for one of our teachers, Andrea. She has been suffering for several days with a really high temperature and so far the doctors have detected an infection but they don’t know what is causing it. Also, please pray for my Mom, she will be having cataract surgery Wednesday. Please pray for Mark and Johanna Waltz as they head to the hurricane disaster area to help with a mobile medical clinic. I want to extend birthday greetings to Linda, Gail, my nephew Andrew, Jerry, and Bev. Also, please pray for many of the missionaries here as they make decisions about what the Lord desires of them in the next few months as they renew or change mission fields. Also, please pray for Tom Howard and his family. He lost his wife, Pam, to cancer this past week.

May God be your source of hope, strength, pace, and joy.

Love,
Sue
