Project for the People of Paraguay

Our Vision and Purpose

DSCN2961 2For 20 years, the Project for the People of Paraguay (PPP) has been transforming lives through the development of programs that empower and enable persons to take control of their lives through on-going and long-term education support.  Programs such as Child Sponsorship, Women of Dignity Program, Dignity Village Farm, Continuing Education Scholarships, and Housing and Relocation opportunities have taught individuals a wide variety of skills to support themselves.

The main purpose of the PPP is to help the persons with limited resources of Paraguay move from poverty to independence by implementing and/or supporting self-help, self-development programs that involve the family and their communities.

The PPP emphasizes the care of the total person by meeting the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of poor families.  The PPP commits to help people embrace a strong personal faith, to lead productive lives, and to create healthy families and communities.

PPP Reunion May 16 2017It is the vision of the Project for the People of Paraguay to sustain a long term commitment to the people of Paraguay who need assistance by collaborating with religious and nonsectarian persons, groups and organizations that are involved in programs and projects of good will that help restore and preserve the dignity of those being served.

Samaritan Hands

The work of Samaritan Hands began in 1984 when our founder, Dr. Jerald Russell, made his first trip to Guatemala. The need he saw was great: nearly 75 precious children all living in the space of the average American bedroom, and getting ready to be evicted from even this meager existence. A deserted building was located, refurbished and put into immediate use, giving the children a secure place to live and grow.

Samaritan Hands is a Christian ministry designed to help those who find themselves by the road of life around the world. We work not only to help heal the wounds that life sometimes delivers, as in the Biblical Samaritan parable, but also to provide on-going service, support and Christian love.

 General Information

Today the work of Samaritan Hands continues to reach throughout Guatemala with a new orphanage in Chichicastenango and short-term Volunteers in Mission groups going annually. We also have ongoing projects in Costa Rica in coordination with Volunteers in Mission. In Zimbabwe, we provide food and an educational program. Land has been purchased for the construction of 8 group homes as well. In Paraguay, a school has been built and each year a new grade has been added. The first group of students graduated in 2013.  Support is given through student scholarships as well as assistance in further construction projects at the school.  In Latvia, we have a supporting role with a young woman who ministers to the children and youth in that war-torn country. International college students are aided with their education here as well as helping missionaries with their calling. Our dream is to continue spreading the love of Christ around the world to all people.
