How Can You Help?

The New Horizon School began and continues to function on faith that God will touch the hearts of others to make our vision a reality.  Each family pays a small portion of their child's education.

We then seek scholarships through sponsors (referred to as "Sponsorships") to supplement the cost.  A sponsorship is $480 per year per child or $35 a month.

The funds cover the cost of school operations, student books and materials, all school staff (except missionaries who must secure their own funds), maintenance and snacks for those who cannot afford them.

Sponsorships run from January through December which collides with the Paraguayan academic year (February through November).  We accept children on faith that God will provide sponsors for all children every year. Sponsorship requests may be sent to the Samaritan Hands office to the attention of Tina Spannbauer:

Gifts or Cards for your Child

One way is to send gifts or letters though the postal service to the school.   This tends to be very expensive for the mailing and not everything arrives intact. When sending a gift for a child, please address the gift to Sue Givens, the School Director  and then put the child’s name underneath. This enables the Director to retrieve the gift from the post office. Please never send money or checks to Paraguay through the mail service!

Another option is to send funds to Samaritan Hands.   Please designate the amount you wish to donate and for what occasion.   We will give your child a gift in your name and if any funds are left over, they will be put in a "Special Events" Fund for Children’s Day, Day of the Youth or other special event so that all the children will benefit from your generosity. Please make the check/s to:

A third way is communicate with your child by email.  Please send your email in English or Spanish and your students name and number to:  This email address is being protected from spambots. Construction Donations or General Scholarship

To Benefit Any student without a Sponsor

In September of 2009, New Horizon School was selected by General Board of Global Ministries as a project and they just has renewed the project for the next three years.   The Advance (Advancing hope in Christ’s Name) is an accountable, designated-giving arm of The United Methodist Church that ensures 100 percent of each gift reaches its intended ministry. The vision is to share the love of Jesus Christ by offering hope and to help those in need.

We are nearing the completion of our Multipurpose Building and still have a number of construction projects to complete such as adding additional classrooms, equipping a Science lab and improving the library and computer area.   Our school is able to receive donations to help with these projects or general scholarship projects.   All donations need to be marked New Horizon Advance # 3021089.

Samaritan Hands is a non-profit organization established by Fairview United Methodist Church in Maryville, Tennessee, in order to fund mission outreach activities. It is administered by a board of directors under president, Dr. Jerry Russell. This organization has agreed to administer funds donated for the New Horizons School in a very poor area in Paraguay. The New Horizons School was founded by Marion and Georgia Waltz while serving nine years in Paraguay as missionaries with The Mission Society for United Methodists.

The school is funded entirely from donations from individuals and churches, either in the form of Child Sponsorships, designated gifts, or in the future, partially through this endowment fund. This is one of the very few organizations where absolutely none of the donated monies are used for administrative expenses. Monies in the Endowment fund are invested in a Balanced Growth Fund managed by the Holston Conference Foundation. The return on investment is used to support the school.

How you can help!

GIFTS TO THIS FUND KEEP ON GIVING THROUGH THE YEARS SINCE THE PRINCIPLE REMAINS IN THE FUND!! There are many ways to give, and all gifts are tax deductible if you itemize deductions.

The most obvious is a cash donation, which can be during the donors’ lifetime or as a bequest in a will or estate plan. Gifts from a will or an estate will not incur estate tax. .Gifts of appreciated property or stock have the additional advantage that you will not have to pay any capital gains tax and the school will receive current market value on sale of the appreciated property or securities.

Deferred gifts, planned gifts, or life income gifts are another option. These are gifts that can provide you with an immediate income tax deduction, but also may offer other benefits such as life income, future use of the gift property, and avoidance of capital gains tax.

These are not all of the options but give a representative indication. For more information please fill in the attached form and mail to Samaritan Hands, Paraguay and a representative will contact you. Remember, these gifts will have an eternal value in the effect on lives of young people in Paraguay. Please pray for this ministry.
